2010 Nago Cherry Blossom Festival, Okinawa

Saturday was perfect weather for the 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival in Nago, Okinawa at the site of the castle ruins there. Nago is about an hour's drive North along the beautiful coastline. The town had food vendors with just about any food you'd want, and a whole bunch of what you wouldn't.

There were about 500 steps to the top of the hill to the shrines, lined with Japanese lanterns and cherry tree. We actually met a bunch of hospital friends and neighbors while we were at the festival... good times!

 

 

 

 

Here's a short clip I took of the Miss Cherry Blossom singing contest... always a duet, and singing the same song, the seating area was packed, with lots of applause. Probably an ancient love story, and the blossoms...
